The Pearl Market.

After the Six Banyan Temple, we headed to the Pearl Market. Guangzhou is the mecca for pearls as the Pearl River meets the Ocean, Freshwater and Saltwater Black Pearls are abundant. The Pearl Market looks like a crappy mall that only sells pearls. So there are hundreds of vendors all selling the same thing. We were told to be wary of vendors taking our money and then switching it with bad money and telling us our money was no good. Or giving us change in Tawain dollars or Indonesian dollars which they say can be easily mistaken by us westerners. It doesnt help that China just released new money with a new design and all denominations are available in the new money. So you have $.50, $1, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100. All of these are bills of different size and now there are two different kinds. They have coins too, but these are almost worthless when you consider that $1 yuan is about 15 cents cdn. Anyways, we were pretty tired from bad sleep and a good walk at the temple, so we just went to a couple of stores and Alex found Hailey a pearl bracelet and a pearl necklace for Gotcha day gifts. We walked back to the hotel. Alex was pretty exhausted, so we put Hailey down for a nap and got some sleep ourselves. We did dinner in from Room Service. We think we have got this bed time thing right this time. We did the bath, lotion, bottle, medicine, cuddle with daddy (standing and rocking of course), and then into the crib and out like a light. We got her down around 8:30pm and we were both asleep by 9pm. Sweet.

Love Alex, Jason and Hailey.

I am so sorry to hear that you guys aren't feeling well. It must be very difficult when all of you are sick, yet you still venture out and share your journey with us all. You are incredible people. Hope you are all well soon. My thoughts are with you. Much love to the 3 of you.

Auntie Darlene, what are you doing up at this crazy hour? :)

Jason and Alex, so sorry to hear you're not feeling well. I know that's particularly rough when you don't have the comforts of home. Take good care of yourselves. xo

Sorry guys that you are not feeling well. We all just want to reach out and hug you. The process certainly seems long and drawn out but I'm sure there are good reasons for all of it. You'll soon be home in your comfy house and things will get more normal. Alex - "it's all good". Thank-you for the updates. It was great to hear from you today. Love you lots.

You guys are getting quickly used to why we don't love going out for dinner with the kids! It used be easier to go out and not have to clean up but as you're finding out (the hard way - sorry about the soup - I hope it wasn't hot) it isn't so relaxing with a toddler.
I hope you're all feeling better soon. I had a mini panic attack when you said you'd be back on the Friday and was very relieved to read that you'll still be home on the same day. We can't wait to see you all.

I was getting dressed this morning and remembered that I have Chinese pearls that Dan and Dori brought back for me - Hailey and Auntie Robyn can match! Fun!
